Finally, two brief bits of personal history:
The quality of this picture made me decide I needed a new mobile phone (yes, I know how silly that sounds).
This is the side exit of the presidential palace La Moneda in Santiago de Chile, opened up again after having been hidden from sight for more than 30 years. Through this door, the body of Salvador Allende was spirited away after the coup of 11 September 1973. My interest in politics awoke that day.
And here’s the last picture of my father, holding my hand, four hours before he died on 8 March 2007.
